I just noticed all my old emails prior to Jan 12 have been deleted. This also happened before. I checked with my provider Shaw webmail and they are deleted there as well and said it must be a Mozilla issue. My thunderbird setting is set to do not delete emails. They only get deleted from my desktop and not my laptop.

Claiming that your laptop is IMAP does not add up. You say the messages are gone from both the server and your PC but still on the laptop. IMAP is server based. If the messages are not on the server then there are no messages for any IMAP device to view. If your laptop is really setup as POP then it downloads messages from the server and removes them from the server. In this case no IMAP device can see messages because the server is emptied but the POP laptop downloaded them to your hard drive and you have them there.
