Controls to allow pop-ups do not work on firefox 58, Any work-arounds
Hi,
Is there something I am not doing right? One of the major business app used by my organization uses popups for its many modal functions; i have tried all I can to allow popups for the link like including white-listing by typing in the exception tab listing like so "http://[local ip address]" but it keeps on blocking the popups. I have also tried to disable popups by unchecking the "block popups" in the options panel but the site keeps getting blocked.
The orange bar for blocking popups does not show up for more than a mili-second and its hardly noticeable; it disappears before you can perform any action with it at all.
Please help, i am getting angry and irate users here and i also use firefox greatly for my work because of the many great addons. Its also the browser of choice for my users.

Hi,
Do you have any content blocking add-ons, like NoScript, AdBlock Plus or Flash Block Plus ?
If so : would you check their settings or disable them, to see if that will make a difference ?
In Options > Permissions at Block pop-up windows > Exceptions... try adding the IP Address to the Allowed Websites - Pop-ups. Then restart Firefox and see if Firefox did accept the IP Address vs. only a domain name or a URL. Been quite awhile since I have added an IP Address to "Allowed" and not sure if that still works.
Thanks Guys for such a quick response! its quite uplifting!!!.

No such addons.

This is what i have done previously. No luck there. Unfortunately the service is tied to an ip address only. I will try to work something out in DNS to see if that works.
Any headsup as to why the orange option bar disappears like that? it does not stay long enough for any action to be taken on it.
Thanks again!
Bummer !
You will undoubtedly already have done everything that's mantioned in this article :
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/pop-blocker-settings-exceptions-troubleshooting
It says there :
When blocking a pop-up, Firefox displays an information bar (if it hasn’t been previously dismissed – see below), as well as an icon pop-up-icon-win in the address bar.

But unless I'm totally misreading your question : you should see neither the bar nor the icon ...... unless you have set Firefox to block pop-ups (see my last, modified, post).
Firefox shouldn't block pop-ups with pop-up blocking disabled.
You can check the Web Console (Tools -> Web Developer) for messages about blocked content and about the presence of mixed or unsafe content.
Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required)?
If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.
- make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version
There is Tracking Protection that can block (wanted) content, so check the location/address bar for special icons.
Please take a look at this bug report :
Note that there is also a pop-up notification icon next to the Control Center 'i' icon, but I assume that that icon is missing as well if you do not get the of notification bar.
It is possible that there are redirect that can cause the notification bar to get hidden.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
