I have a misspelled word that is stuck in the Firefox dictionary. The word "would" is spelled as "woudl" in the dictionary so it never gets highlighted by spell check when typing emails. Its been there forever and I have never been able to find where to remove it. I am running FF version 63.0.

Any help as to where to find the dictionary, so that I can remove that word, would be appreciated.

D.

Excellent question!

First, could you check whether this is available: right-click woudl and see whether "Undo Add To Dictionary" is available at the top of the context menu. I see it when I experiment, but I don't know whether that is only for today or will be there later.

Second, the personal dictionary file is called persdict.dat and despite the .dat file extension, it's just a plain text file. The steps to edit that file are in the following article, in the "Removing a word you have accidentally added" section: How do I use the Firefox spell checker?

Can you get that out?

Thank you so much. I had searched for that .dat file several times. This time, with your guidance, I managed to find it and remove the misspelled word.

Thanks for the help. D.
