I tried to import contacts from a .csv file asking for First name, Last name and email. Only the email addresses imported, no names, and addresses have gone in the name field ! And it has created a new address book with the name of the .csv file which I didn't ask for. What am I doing wrong please? I noticed when converting my Excel list to .csv that there are several versions of .csv file. So which is the correct one to use for this purpose? Thanks for any advice.

The issue will probably be Excel. It still to the best of my knowledge uses ANSI text and balks at unicode offering to "import" it.

Open your CSV in windows notepad and use file save as to set the text to unicode in the file save as dialog. Also be sure the headings align in the import. Some years ago I wrote a blog post in importing CSV files. While much has changes in the intervening years, things like matching headings in the CSV to the import fields in Thunderbird are still relevant. https://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com/2013/03/importing-csv-files.html
