Suggestion - Creating Filters Based on "HEADING"!

more options

I LOVE Thunderbird. I've been using it for years. It has longevity. I tried Outlook way, way back, but they killed it, brought it back, killed it again, brought it back. I DISLIKE MS. anyways....

I often use filters. I wish I could program because I would LOVE to write an add-on where you could just DRAG-N_DROP and email address on some filter Icon and it would automatically add that email (or even some word or combination of words) to a filter. Simple.

My problem now, as with many people, the SPAM we get is very deceptive. They break up words with special characters you can only see in something like Notepad++, so it easily passes through SPAM filters, and they use fake and non-existent domain names in the email addresses and body.

One place where you can find sources of SPAM is in the header, and I don't mind looking at the full headers to find the source, but the problem is, Thunderbird does not include "Headers" as something to filter through.

It would be nice if Headers could be scanned as well when filtering. And a BONUS if there was a DRAG-N-DROP Icon to easily add words, ip's, emails, etc... to the filtering.

There is Message/Create Filter From Message...

Filters can be defined for any message header by adding the header in the Customize... window (see picture).

However, filtering spam this way is often not very effective.

I tried making a filter for headers, it doesn't work at all.

There are source emails and web addresses that are always the source of a TON of SPAM. It would be nice if "Header" filters DID work on the headers similarly to how filters work on other fields.

I really wish I could program so I could make a icon you could just drag-n-drop and email or web address to and it would create an instant filter. if found in ANY field, in ANY email account.
