Is there a switch for starting FF minimized ?
I'm looking for a command line switch that will start Firefox minimized. Thunderbird too, if possible

There is not a command line argument for this, but there is a windows feature that you can use.
Right-click on the shortcut you use to launch Firefox and select properties. Go to the shortcut tab, about two-thirds the way down that tab there is a Run setting, change that to Minimized.

Sure there are. To open Firefox/other Moz apps/ use the parameter -silent and you will get it.

Tried this setting on Firefox.exe in my Start Up folder where Firefox is launched at boot-up. It still opens as full screen upon boot-up. Procedure has worked for other programs (IE 8, TaskManager, etc.) at boot-up.
