Always taken to google country site rather than google.com
How can I get Firefox to let me go to the google page I want to?
1. When I enter url "google.com", Firefox takes me to the google country page where I am "google.co?.xx". E.g. google.co.za and google.com.gh. 2. Clicking on "Go to Google.com" at the bottom of the page takes me back to country page "google.co?.xx" and not google.com 3. "google.com/ncr" takes me to the country page, not google.com 4. "google.com/webhp" does take me to .com, but is not very sticky - clicking on google links on the page quickly takes me back to the country page. 5. No problem with Chrome and Safari on the same machine - the "Go to Google.com" link works as it should.
(Mac OSX Lion, Firefox v7.0.1, same problem in Ghana and South Africa)

You need to keep Google cookies (i.e. create an allow exception), possibly from both sites, in order not to lose that setting.
Thanks cor-el. I've tried fiddling with cookie settings, including having the most cookie-friendly settings under Preferences/ Privacy (unchecked "Tell web sites I do not want to be tracked" and "Firefox will: remember history") - no success.
Was there something else you had in mind regarding keeping Google cookies?
