switches to another page within a gambling web site without my clicking mouse
When using some web sites that have multiple pages Firefox switches from the page I'm on to another page in the history when I click on any button within the original page. Such as on Expedia.com I got up airline flight information, then when I clicked the button on that flight page for hotel information firefox jumped back a page to the flight information request page. On a gambling site such as bet365.com if I am on a page looking at the odds for a particular sporting function and click the button on that page to place a bet Firefox jumps back to last page in the history. It doesn't happen all the time and some sites are worse than others, such as bet365.com. Somtimes I feel as though the pages are jumpting all over the place.....although they're not of course.

Hi...I see from the above post that great minds think alike. As cor-el suggested, I saw a suggestion elsewhere that people have had similar problems to mine that was found to be caused by an optical mouse. So I swapped the mouse and wonder of wonders it worked. Everything back to normal. Many thanks for your help cor-el, not only is my problem solved but I have the side benefit of having cleared my machine of loads of potentially harmful other junk. Again...thanks.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Hi..thanks for your suggesions they turned up loads of unwanted muck on my pc, for which I'm grateful, but my original problem is no better. I recently upgraded my internet connection so that I now have 40mb download speed, in theory, in practice it's much less than that but still pretty fast. It's since this upgrade I've had the problem. It's almost as though my cursor has only to hover over a link and hey presto...off we go to that link, even though I had no intention of clicking the mouse at that spot. If you or anyone else has any further suggestions I'd be very grateful ...I'm at the point of wanting to throw this machine in the bin.
Maybe you should try a different mouse to see if that helps. The mouse button may be broken and get stuck in the pressed down position.
