Upgraded To OSX Lion And Cannot Retrieve My Info From Sync...Not Designed To Do This?
I'm confused as to what Sync can do. Can Sync uploaded your previous info BACK to you if you install another operating system for example? Or is it made simply to store whatever information you tell it to and nothing else? I just installed OSX Lion on my Macbook and I could not retrieve my old Sync Info from OSX Snow Leopard. I followed instruction on how to receive a new recovery key and all this seemed to do was upload my newest info into sync and override everything. I'm confused. Can someone clear this up for me? Thank you.

You should always backup the recovery key because that key is used to encrypt your data before sending it to the server.
Your data is removed from the Sync server as soon as you reset or change the recovery key.
You can request to send a new password to your email address in case you lost that, but your recovery key can't be recovered unless there are still other devices synced.
