I have the latest version (26) but I keep getting alerts for me to update Firefox. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled last week and now I'll get three or four alerts at a time, each one opening in a new tab and blowing me out of whatever tab I was browsing in. I went to the Firefox Help section and it says that I have the latest version.

1. Install firefox from it's official website http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/

2. If still getting update request remove unrequired softwares from add or remove program, control pannel -> add or remove

3. Make sure antivirus is fully up to date.

You shouldn't respond to such alerts and only update via "Help > About" or get Firefox from the official Mozilla servers.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Whenever you get a message / popup that software / files need to be updated,

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS.

While this may be a legitimate message, it could also be Malware or a Virus. Any time you want or need to check for upgrades, go to the web site of the True Owner of the program in question. For example, to check out Firefox, go to Mozilla.org or Firefox In Any Language.

I use AntiMalwareBytes and Windows Security Essentials on a regular basis but neither one has found anything. I am downloading Kasperky and ComboFix and will run them today. Thanks so much for responding.

Do you get these alerts only when visiting specific web pages or randomly on various web pages?

You can also check suspicious extensions.

Neither Kaspersky, ComboFix, Defender, Security Essentials nor AnitMalwarebytes fround any malware. It appears to be random but I will pay closer attention to the page I am on when it occurs.

My anti virus is current and I uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox a few days ago. There must be some vulnerability in my system or something that lets this through.
