When I moved Thunderbird to a new computer running Windows 8.1, suddenly it refused to remember my passwords for my email accounts. I don't use a Master Password, but I have made sure to check the "remember password" box when I'm asked for my password. I've checked the security settings, and my list of remembered passwords is there...but T'bird doesn't remember them in spite of that. I had no problems whatsoever with my old computer running Windows 7. I've even scoured my profile settings looking for a string that contains "password" in case it's marked "false," but no luck there either. Any ideas???

My guess you got a new anti virus with the new computer. Your being asked for passwords because the anti virus messed up the initial connection. The fallback in Thunderbird is to ask for the password.
