You can find "Move to New Window" in the "Move Tab" sub menu in the right-click context menu of the Tab bar.

When more than one tab is selected then some "Tab" actions in the Tab bar context menu change to "Tabs" So with multiple tabs or all tabs selected "Move Tab" changes to "Move Tabs".

You see this on all tab actions that work with multiple tabs like "Bookmark Tab" -> "Bookmark Tabs" for bookmark all tabs. You can find "Bookmark All Tabs" in the Bookmarks menu on the Menu Bar or possibly use its shortcut key (Ctrl+Shift+D).

You can select multiple tabs in the usual way for selecting items:

  • use "Select All Tabs" in the tab context menu to select all tabs
  • use Shift-click -> Range of tabs
  • use Ctrl-click -> Individual tab, works as a toggle

Thank you so much for fast answer and friendly greetings from Bleckede, germany.

If I understand you correctly, this means that every time I want to move a tab to a new window I need to address another cascading menu? Instead of merely right clicking the tab and clicking a simple link?

This may seem like a trivial thing until you figure out that you end up having to repeat the same irksome, tiresome series of keystrokes or mouse clicks hundreds, maybe thousands of times in a week or month. I thought computers were supposed to make our lives easier, not increase the drudgery!

What's wrong with you people? Do you intentionally sit around and dream up ways to make your product more complex and harder to use?

Firefox has a tear off feature, so if you want to move one tab then all you need to do is to press the left mouse button and drag the tab downwards to the browsing area. When you release the left mouse button then this tab will be moved to a new window. With the new multiple select tab feature you can move multiple tabs (i.e. move a group of tabs) to one window.

For what it's worth, I have switched to tearing off the tab instead of using the right-click menu command. Half the time I right click and realize I wanted to drag, the other half of the time, I remember. Probably in a couple weeks I'll remember every time.
