Firefox 4 - if I open a webpage, then click on a link to an earlier page on that site, then download a pic, then hit the back button, it goes back to the first page I viewed, not the most recent one. Do you have the McAfee Site Advisor installed. What you are describing can be caused by that add-on, uninstalling or disabling it will cause the back button to function normally.

I have already done all of that. I opened Firefox 4 in safe mode, which I assume disables all the add-ons, and still had the problem.
