Downloading flash without admin rights
I am having issues finding a work around to intall flash on my work laptop.
I did some searching and was able to find the work around below. However, there was no plugins folder and when I tried to create one, I was denied creating a new folder. So, I tried find another work around and some said I can go into Run: %APPDATA% and it will bring me to Firefiox extension, plugins, etc. There was no plugin folder, so I created one and saved it into the plugin folder. It looked like it too, but then when I went to restart Firefox, it kept crashing and running slow. I made sure that I was using the correct DLL. Is there another work around?
If you are a Firefox user and want to use Flash but do not have administrative privileges do the following:
Download the latest version of the Firefox Flash plugin from the adobe website. Your best option is to right-click the download link and select Save As. Extract the contents of the downloaded file to a folder on the local system. You may need to change the file extension to zip if you have only access to the standard Windows unzipper. Move the two files NPSWF32.dll (NPSWF64.dll for 64 bit) and flashplayer.xpt into the Firefox plugin directory e.g.: C:\Program Files\Firefox\plugins. The plugin directory is located in the root directory if you are using a portable version of Firefox, if Firefox is installed is is located in the profile folder. Easiest option to find out where the folder is located is to enter about:support in the address bar. This works for Firefox 3.6 and up. If no Plugins folder exist create the folder and move the two Flash Player files into the folder. Restart Firefox to make this work and visit http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ to check your flash player version number. You can now enjoy Flash based contents. Be aware that the plugin is not auto-updating itself. You need to make sure to keep it up to date manually.

I see that in the C:Program Files/Firefox, there is a blocklist file. Could I maybe open up that file, and modify it to delete the block command for flash update?
You may not be able to fix this without Administrator access because you can't disable protected mode in the Flash player, so you might need to revert to Flash 10.3
You may need to check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
- disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
- disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
- disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
Thanks..looks like no good and can not find a work around. Stinks when you want to watch the news, listen to the radio and others items. I understadn work is work, but listening to music while working should not be an issue
So, I am guessing there is no work around from what you proposed above? There must be some back way to downlaod any version of flash without admin permission. How about if I alter the blocklist? I see that in the C:Program Files/Firefox, there is a blocklist file. Could I maybe open up that file, and modify it to delete the block command for flash update?
When I do move the two files NPSWF32.dll (NPSWF64.dll for 64 bit) and flashplayer.xpt into the Firefox plugin directory e.g.: C:\Program Files\Firefox\plugins.
It seems to work for a sec and then FireFox freezes. Is there anything I can to change this/correct this?
Don't use the 64 DLL file. Firefox has no use for that file.
Hello, I have the same problem, Firefox freeze after few seconds. I have copied just the version 32bits of the .DLL (I'm user of Win7 64bits) but I have also this problem. Can you help me ?
C:\Program Files\Firefox\plugins\ is not the correct location in Firefox 21.0-plus versions.
plugins -> browser\plugins
