Tried to open with several programs: Adobe reader 11.07 , PDF architect , all gave a "damaged" error. OS is Windows 8.1 Imap e-mail protocol Forwarding message to another PC was no solution, only the IPad opened the file(s)

Try setting mail.server.default.fetch_by_chunks to false. Open and close the Message Source (Ctrl-U) to force the IMAP server to re-download a message with an attachment. (You may have to restart TB for the changes to take effect.)

Thank you Matt, However, the article dates from 2009, so most files referred to do not exist anymore in the 2014 config editor. Anyway, I think we're on the right track. The existing (filtered by mail.imap) files are shown in the attachment Best regards Paul

the prefs.js file which the config editor edits has not changed much in a decade. Only preferences that are set are even saved in thee. Defaults are not saved at all. If the preference is missing add it.

The big difference is the menu, and pressing F10 will bring it back. Or use Alt + T to get started.
