I haven't tried using the Lighting calendar extension yet. I use Google Calendar, and am satisfied with it. However, it would be handy to convert an e-mail (such as one with an invitation or an event announcement) into a calendar event in Thunderbird, and then export the event to Google. I can't see a way to do that, though. Is there one?

You should explore Right click when using Thunderbird. Lots of useful things just a click away.

Thanks, Airmail! I do actually use right-click, but I hadn't checked the Convert To... submenu.

This did the trick just fine for me: converted the message to a Lighting event, and let me edit it as needed. I then exported the calendar to an .ics file and imported it into Google Calendar. Since I don't need to do this very often, this solution should be more than adequate for me, without installing further Google-specific extensions. I've wanted a functionality like this for a long time, and I'm glad I now know it's available, and how to use it.

What happened to the "Convert to" on the right-click in message using TB Version 38.6?
