Is Firefogg safe to install in Firefox?
I need to convert MPEG movies to WEBM. One option is Firefogg (http://firefogg.org/) which installs an add-on in Firefox. But when I try to install http://firefogg.org/xpi/Firefogg-347.xpi, Firefox blocks it with this message: "Firefox prevented this site from asking you to install software on your computer". I have the option of "Allow", but hesitate - I don't see Firefogg among the available add-ons when I search Add-ons.

"Allow" at your own risk from a non-secure host!
That Add-on .XPI should be coming from a secure server, a basic requirement for the last 3 or 4 years for add-on installation.
Has been available from the official Add-ons website since 2009. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/firefogg/

I think it will be a good decision to not use this site as firefox prevent it. So Choosing allow is a right decision.

Then safe to use. Just installed it from the the Mozilla site. Works well. But it doesn't come up in a search for "firefogg" in Firefox -> Tools -> Add-ons
