Since a security update on 1-24-17 I have been receiving a "Bad news first: This tab has crashed" error. Following troubleshooting tips I refreshed FF. Same error. I created a new profile, same error. I uninstalled FF, and reinstalled FF, same error. I finally uninstalled FF and deleted the Mozilla folder to start with a clean slate. I downloaded the current FF and ended with the same error. I haven't made any changes to my system in the last several days. I even did a system restore prior to the 1-24 update. Same problem. I have a up to date ATI Radeon graphics. There are no crashes reported in the crash log.

Please help as I love FF.

are you using EMET by any chance?

I am using EMET.

I unchecked all the boxes for Firefox in EMET and ran Firefox and the Tab error disappeared and firefox runs as it should. Now to find out what parts of EMET I can run with firefox.

I tried by trial and error unchecking the function in EMET and I found that Sehop function is the function that causes the error in Firefox. I enabled all the other functions and Firefox still runs. Thank you phillip for the tip. And thanks also to FredMcd. This problem is solved.

The tab that crashes, is it the same web page or any web page.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>

key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

I still get the same error when starting in safe mode.

Firefox and the computer?

No just Firefox. Was the PC to be in safemode also?

I ran FF in safe mode with the PC in safemode-networking and it runs without the error. Does that mean that perhaps that some window update caused the error?

are you using EMET by any chance?

When the PC is in safemode I can start FF in regular mode without a error.

I have only had 2 windows updates and they were on 1-12-17. This was before the problem occurred with Firefox.
