Hi,

We have a web application and it is working different way in normal Firefox and Firefox ESR release. I would like to know what is the different between these versions? I am interested only in technical part and not in license.

Thank you for your answer!

hi, esr is frozen at the feature level of firefox 52 for the next couple of months and will only receive security updates. in addition and in contrast to normal release versions of the browser service workers and push notifications are disabled by default: https://www.fxsitecompat.com/en-CA/docs/2017/service-workers-and-push-notifications-are-disabled-on-firefox-52-esr/

Hi   !
The Extended Support Release (ESR) of Firefox 52+ will still run Java and other old plugins. ESR was first developed to meet the needs of large organizations that wanted Firefox to change much more slowly. It gets security updates but no feature changes for about a year at a time.

More information on this change and ESR:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/npapi-plugins

The release versions can be downloaded from here : https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ The ESR versions can be downloaded from here : https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/all/

As a footnote to the above: When you get to the ESR installer list, you'll notice two or three different downloads for Windows: • Windows installer is the standard version for Windows that runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7-10 • Windows 64-bit installer ONLY runs the Flash and Silverlight plugins.
