I need the column layout or format to create a csv file to import contacts
Hello folks, I'm a big fan of Firefox but I need some help importing a big list of contacts into an address book via a csv file. I'm surprised that I cannot find this basic information about the correct cvs format anywhere. I need to know which fields can be imported, in which order I should arrange them in the csv file, and whether or not the first record should hold the field names. Any assistance appreciated :) James

That's right, if you export a sample address book to csv, the order and names of the fields can be seen, so that you can then edit your contacts csv to make it easier to import to TB.

You could also export an address book from TB in csv format and view it in a text editor to examine the structure.

Thanks sfhowes, that's a good idea. I'll give it a try :)

Thanks sfhowes, that works! Why didn't I think of that? :)
?????Why does Thunderbird make something this basic so complicated????? You shouldn't have so much trouble importing / exporting contacts.
