Hi HuskyPP, I think that is the usual behavior. You could check whether this setting got changed:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste bookm and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs preference is bolded and "modified" to true -- true launches a new tab -- double-click it to restore the default value of false

Was that it, or do you still have the problem?

Thanks for the response, I looked up the setting "browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs" and its default value is true. I tried to switch it on and off but it seems has no effect on my bookmarks, as they still open up a new tab and load in the new one.

I don't know why yours defaults to true. Is it set to false now and you still get new tabs?

Usually you would need to hold down the Command button when clicking or click with a mouse scroll wheel to trigger a new tab, so it's puzzling.

The only time it opens up my book mark in the same tab is when I manually click the "+" sign and get that "new tab" page and then click a bookmark and it will open up in it. Any other circumstances it will open up a new tab. May I ask you how to reset all my settings? I would like to give that a try.

I did the reset and whatever it did solved the problem. Thanks.
