In order to rebuild my Win10 machine I need to move my TB to an older Win8.1 machine. Have been using TB for around 20 years and my life history is in my files. Set up as local data in documents in C drive as local data, not included in my profile. Have moved my email between computers many times, but this time I am stumped.

On the Win 10 machine I can download, read, reply and file my email. But I can not update. On the Win10 machine I am running TB 60.5.0. When I try to update and click the Restart to update TB I get "Update Failed. There were problems checking for downloading or installing this update. TB could not be updated because "The Update could not be installed (patch apply failed).

When I try to download a new version I get a different error message: An error occurred during a connection to download-installer.cdn.mozilla.net. SSL received a record that exeeded the maximum ermissible length. Error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_Record_Too.Long." The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because an error in the network protocol was detected. Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

I have an older Win8.1 machine on which I have uninstalled and older version of TB, there is no profile in the appdata\TB. And TB is not listed in the apps\programs. I downloaded a new version of TB. Copied my local TB Data to my C: Drive. Downloaded and Installed the new TB 60.5.3 and got the error message: "Error. Your TB profile can not be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." My experience in the past has been that TB would install and I would tell it where my local data was and copy the contents of my profile into the new profile created when I installed a new version of TB.

I tried coping my profile into the appdata\TB but this made no difference. I have moved my TB many times before and always a new profile was made when I installed the program.

20 years of my life is in my email and I have been working on this for more than 2 days. I could use some help figuring what I am doing wrong.

Does the new version install differently? Any suggestions?

I must continue to remove my data from the Win10 machine to rebuild it.

Ron

Your win 10 errors sound like your anti virus has lost the plot. Try uninstalling it.
