I have followed various threads about importing my passwords without any success.

I recently swapped PCs so I exported passwords and bookmarks to disk to install on the new PC.

The bookmarks have imported ok but the passwords are in the CSV format created by Mozilla on export from the old PC and there is no option to import a CSV which seems a bit crazy.

I cannot find a way to import this data. I have tried syncing with my laptop to get the passwords but that doesn't work either.

If anyone could help me resolve this problem I would be very grateful.

Many thanks,

Mark.

You need to enable import CSV in the Password Manager (about:logins) via the about:config page as this menu item is currently hidden for performance reasons.

You need to close and restart Firefox to make the Import menu item appear in the gear menu on the about:logins page.

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion but it hasn't worked. I have tried this several times. The only slight possibility is that I'm missing something when you say close and restart Firefox. I'm assuming this is nothing more than closing the browser and opening it again.

After doing this I have gone back to the about:config screen and the signon command is set to true but I still do not see an option to import a csv.

For clarity, there is no gear symbol on the page you refer to but there is one in the ... menu on this page. When I take this option it takes me to the general options page from which I can choose Saved Logins to get back to the about:logins page. So I'm going round in loops with this.

If you can spot anything in the above that I'm doing wrong I would be very grateful for some additional guidance.

Interestingly this is enabled on my laptop which has the same version of Firefox (121.0.1 - 64 bit) and I can use the csv import option via the Import from another browser... menu OR from a menu item that does not show on my PC called Import from a File...

Perhaps there's something else that needs to be enabled?

Thanks for your time and patience with this.

Mark.
