Firefox crashes when opening some pages, for example http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2517761

I've tried starting in safe mode, and it still crashes. I've followed all the steps at Firefox crashes - Troubleshoot, prevent and get help fixing crashes to the best of my ability:

* Update Firefox: I'm using version 36.0
* Update your plugins:
  Plugin Status

These plugins are up to date: Adobe Flash PlayerShockwave Flash 11.2 r202, Silverlight Plug-In5.1.30514.0 Unknown Plugins: IcedTea-Web Plugin (using IcedTea-Web 1.5.1 (suse-4.1-x86_64)) (v. ), PackageKit (v. ), Skype Buttons for Kopete (v. ) Update Linux: automatic updates are enabled on openSUSE 13.2 and I get updates daily. Update your drivers: this I think is handled by the automatic updates Update your Internet Security software: I don't have any such software installed.

The crash still happens in Safe Mode crash ID 49efb45e-16b6-4919-b60c-e42d62150306

I've had other webpages to crash, but it's the only recent (today) one. I don't recall where the other pages are. Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites.

I started FF in safe mode and it still crashes on specific web pages. I found another one today that crashes it: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=184635

What should I do about the flagged programs?

I checked that page. Loaded with no problem.

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

I ran rkhunter: all binaries okay, no rootkits found, no malware found, no suspicious processes. I use NoScript and I only enable trusted sites. Is there anything else I can check? I must have an unusual configuration or something since these crashes can't be reproduced.

more options

The pages that crash FF also crash Konquerer so it must be some library or plugin that both browsers use.

Download Firefox Full Installer For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;

Using your file browser, open the Programs folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla and Firefox folders by adding .old to them.

Now run the full installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

FredMcD, There is no installers for Mac and Linux from mozilla.org and note that this Firefox is on Linux and not Windows.

Also the advice of renaming the mozilla folders is vague as some of those are your Profiles where you settings like Bookmarks, Passwords and such are so be very careful in what you delete.

Thank you FredMcD and James for your help. Since I've found that the same web pages that crash Firefox also crash Konqueror, the issue appears to not lie within the Firefox browser and thus is beyond the scope of this forum. I will seek a more appropriate forum.

Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And one folder in the profile of each user on the computer.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user folders would not be effected.

more options

You say that after the fact as you said "rename any Mozilla and Firefox folders"

Also the Maintenance is only on Windows and not Mac and especially Linux as this poster is using.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/what-mozilla-maintenance-service If you try to view article for Mac or Linux it says "Note: The article only applies to Windows."

Thanks James.
