Firefox isn't working properly and it won't let me download another browser

more options

I thought I might try Mozilla Firefox because i thought it would be faster than internet Explorer (that I had before) I downloaded it and started using it, but noticed it was pretty slow and some webpages don't work properly. I've been trying to download Internet Explorer back on to my computer, but it says it cannot display the webpage. I've tried disabling the firewall and running without add-ons but it still won't work. It's my nan's computer and no one else knows much about this stuff. Please help :(

It's pretty hard to delete Internet Explorer completely, since Windows uses it for numerous functions under the covers. You could try this:

Start > Run > iexplore.exe {ENTER}

With respect to Firefox issues, if the system has a dedicated graphics card, try disabling Firefox's hardware graphics acceleration feature.

You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If you restart Firefox, is performance improved?
