I use a Lead Finder software program which requires me to log into my Facebook account via a Connect to Facebook link, however this facility no longer works, although it used to?

Can you tell me how/where I need to look on my Firefox page in order to ENABLE this Facebook access feature? Thank you

I'll start with some general advice, which I would apply both to your lead finder site and to Facebook.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Okay, so in addition to the cache/cookies step, you may want to rule out one of your extensions as a possible factor. To do that, you can test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled (Flash and other plugins still run)

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference?

                             Have tried the options advised above, however neither yield a successful result . . 

I cannot understand why this feature does'nt work as it used to and it might be that Firefox is somehow not allowing it to happen? . .beats me, as I'm totally, non-techie Regards, Laurence

You can try to open Firefox in Safe Mode either of the following ways:

  • holding down SHIFT while double clicking the Firefox icon on your Desktop
  • running firefox.exe -safe-mode via the Run command (windows + R)

Hello Friend

                             I tried to carry out the suggestions, hovever the first I could not execute and the second I did not understand(as I'm just non-techie)  especially if R means Registry, which petrifies me as I understand so much can go wrong if yoy dont do it correctly 

Can you suggest anything else, as I did try looking at my Firefox Extensions, but deleting them made no difference. Thank you for your support Regards, Laurence

Holding down the "window" key and tapping the R key opens the "Run" box.

In Windows XP, the Run box was easily accessible on the Start menu, but in Vista and newer versions, that was replaced with the search box, so this keyboard shortcut is the fastest way to get to "Run".

Or you can just type or paste this into the Start menu search box:

firefox.exe -safe-mode

Please note that Firefox needs to be completely closed before doing this, otherwise you'll just get a new window in your existing Firefox session.
