Thunderbird mixes up mails in subfolders and is constant busy

My TB mixes up emails in sub-folders, so body and subject no longer correspond. Several bodies are joined and these respective bodies overwritten. In the mail list all looks fine, but in the preview pane the content of the body does not correspond. This means I lose mails and I then need to go back to Gmail in order to read the content.

Also, the activity indicator runs almost constantly. I would assume some indexing problems or pointer problems in the DB.

Any idea what may be wrong? The entire Profiles structure is 6,33 Gb, but should that size cause problems?

Thanks, Michael

You have folder corruption happening. Right click the problem folder and select Properties. Then Repair Folder. Be prepared to lose messages if the corruption is too bad.

Read this article about keeping your folders maintained. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Keep_it_working_(Thunderbird)

Thanks,

I have run "Repair Folder" on a number of large folders. It now remains to be seen if I still get the mail-mix-up. But the activity indicator is still running close to constantly and Thunderbird consumes often a 2-digit % of CPU power.

I just used the repair folder option on all the folders. Thunderbird is still running nonstop as though searching for e mail. I had some trouble installing Thunderbird and had to locate the hidden folder to delete it's contents because my Profile wouldn't delete with the uninstall... (and that Profile was seriously messed up) and fresh install of Thunderbird. I know there's a file missing most likely, even though Thunderbird is operating properly in other respects.

So, the question is... if I uninstall Thunderbird one more time and reinstall, will it fix the possible missing files?
