I use a VPN for general web browsing purposes. However, I have trouble sending emails from behind the VPN using Thunderbird. I can receive just fine, and, after changing the connection security on the account from SSL/TLS to STARTTLS, I can send and receive with no problems....but I have an error with copying the email to the sent folder.

Any suggestions?

do you have issues if you disable email scanning in your anti virus program? My guess is it is messing up on the secure connection your server needs.

That would be a viable option if I had AV software. I'm running Thunderbird in Ubuntu Linux, haha.

haha, so why the VPN. It could also not be able to cope with encrypted connections.
