I am using Firefox 36.01 and the dowload status arrow stop working. It does not report that any downloads are taking place and it shows no progress bar either. I've tried other 3rd party downloaders and almost none show progress of the files being downloaded although some do show the files but Firefox doesn't report any of the files that are in the dowload list. I've uninstalled Firefox 3x deleting all files associated with Firefox and re-installed again. The problem persist. I am using Windows 8.1and have no problem with IE just Firefox. Previous versions of Firefox were working fine unfortunately I cannot find a previous version. What has broken in the Firefox browser software and how can I fix it? Running Windows 8.1 with absolutely no problems in the OS or any of the other software.

Thank you

Please update to the current Firefox 36.0.4 release.

The Firefox version that you currently run has known security vulnerabilities.

It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is interfering otherwise.

Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
