several months ago these clinton foundation ads showed up on the top of my browser pages. They are there all the time and I can't make them go away. They even infiltrate web-based proprietary systems behind my company's firewall when I fun on firefox. Please help make these clinton's go away!!!

Have you ever taken a look at what extensions you have installed? This sounds like something that an extension would do (except it's normally something you would be tempted to spend money on).

Open the Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right. If you don't use it, disable it (or remove it).

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does that eliminate the ads? If not, there are many more possibilities to investigate next.

You can do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
