Firefox is incredibly slow despite multiple attempts to fix
Since at least March 1, 2016, I have been having very low performance in Firefox. Currently running FF 45.0.1 on Mac El Capitan. I am not having these issues to this extent on other browsers on my machine. Symptoms include:
- Long pauses followed by jumpstarts with errors while composing text in Gmail, composing text in forms - Choppy, lagging scrolling - Must hit enter in the address bar for new sites multiple times for the web page to display - General choppy & slow performance
Steps I have taken which have slightly improved but not fixed the problems:
- Restarted in Safe Mode (really did nothing at all) - Closed all tabs - Deleted all but the last 120 days of history (helped a lot, but not cured) - Used plug-in to perform places database maintenance
Please help. I prefer to use Firefox so much. Thanks.

Thanks. I've tried everything outlined here.
Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?
