As the above question implies, I am unable to send any emails. I have tried everything on the help page, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages I have tried Safe mode for the the computer and Thunderbird, uninstalling and reinstalling, deleting the .msf files, disabling the extensions, deleting the account and adding it back on, disabling the virus protection software, but it was all for naught.

Centurylink is the provider of email and ISP AVG AntiVirus 16.81.7639 Thunderbird version 45.1.1 Windows 8.1

Here is the page. http://internethelp.centurylink.com/internethelp/email-server-settings-1.html I've already verified that the SMTP server settings as listed on the page given. I've tried to be thorough, but to no affect.

"smtp.centurylink.net/Port 587/TLS if available" as posted on the Centurylink support site.

Instead of TLS try 'Connection security' set to 'none'. If that works, find a new email provider. Any email provider not supporting TLS these days should go out of business.
