thunderbird 45.2 won't load received messages. Stuck at "loading". Works OK in normal mode after starting once in safe mode.

I am running Ubuntu 16.04. After upgrade to Thunderbird 45.2.0, the client won't open my received messages. It opens the "loading" page (see screenshot) and it stays there. Messages are still received correctly. If I downgrade to previously installed version (38.6) it all works again. Ideas?

Chosen solution

Problem did not occur when starting in safe mode, and for some reason it stopped reoccurring after restarting thunderbird in normal mode.

Does it make sense or should I expect it to come back?

Does not make sense, but it does sometimes happen. And it could happen again.

If it happens again, rather than using safe mode, try disabling your addons one at a time to see which one is causing the problem. The more likely of the bunch are enigmail Messaging Menu and Unity launcher integration StartupMaster Thunderbird Conversations
