Thunderbird (52.0) is no longer downloading my email from Godaddy.

Actually 52.4.0. This just happened. I've been using Thunderbird forever. Now it just says connected to server - doesn't download anything - although the green status bar advances ... I've checked the Godaddy website and my (new) email is there - but Thunderbird doesn't download it. Can I reinstall without losing any of my very long email history? Thanks, Doug
