Why does Firefox default to a server in Ireland for browsing after I visit Facebook?

Browser is slow and spell check doesn't work properly (substituting random spelling and omitting letters form words typed in correctly). I installed an App to help quickly identify which location pages were being loaded from and discovered most locations were being diverted to load from a server in Ireland. Right click function on Microsoft USB mouse stopped working but work on other computers. USB keyboard operates without incident when used off-line and on other computers. Spell check in Libre Office works but selects random variations and accepts words with letters missing when using Firefox.

Note that the OP is using a Linux computer.

Do you have a dictionary installed and selected?

You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages sub menu. At least one dictionary should be installed and have a check mark to indicate that it is selected.

  • open the "Add Dictionaries" link to install a dictionary if you do not have one.

The spelling checker is enabled if [X] "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu has a checkmark.

You can enable or disable spell checking globally:

  • Options/Preferences -> General: Browsing: "Check my spelling as I type"

You can look here for dictionaries:
