Firefox updated iself a few days ago and I began to experience performance issues. Firefox suggested I refresh, and offered a big geen button to do this. I pressed the button and Firefox created a folder on my desk top titled Old Firefox Data. After that nothing happened. I could not restart Firefox. After three failed attempts to restart Firefox, I restarted my computer. Now Firefox works but I have no tabs, no book marks and no history. I have lost seven years accumulated links. I went to the Firefox help pages and initiated the solutions suggested only to find that the back up Firefox had left on my desk top contains no data. I can't see how to restore my links and history.

Press Ctrl+Shift+B to open your Bookmarks. On the "Import and Backup" button do you have bookmark backups in the "Restore" sections? If so you can use these. You might also find these in "bookmarkbackups" in your profile folder .
