Hi. I've installed Firefox a month ago and could not access a single Web Site since the very first try. Thought it could be my Firewall. I was using Comodo. It was not. What I did: Completely unnistalled Comodo. Restored Windows Defender Firewall Defaults. Did the whole "Network Reset" process. The only thing that could possibly be a problem now would be Avast. Turned all components OFF. I did read the pages about this error on Support Mozilla. So now I'm sure it's not my firewall nor Avast. My connection is fine. Re-configured my router all over again. This PC is on cable. Called my ISP and asked them to check my connection and update my line.

After all that I'm here. Anyone could help?

Hi Felix Tha Kat, if we assume it's a "man in the middle" you may be able to identify it from the "Advanced" section of the error page.

Click the Advanced button, then look for an underlined error code such as SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER and click that. Firefox should hopefully show a coded version of the certificate that doesn't check out. If you paste that block of gibberish here, a volunteer can decode it and check the issuer to see whether it identifies the culprit.

Or you can decode it yourself using a site like: https://certlogik.com/decoder/

Avast can be a tricky creature, as I understand it this is out of date and it is a different scanner than when this was made a few weeks ago :

Are you getting the error message on everything or just a particular site ...

You can not have all 3 going : Type: Avast Antivirus Type: Windows Firewall;ZoneAlarm Free Firewall Firewall

It is a conflict. Which Avast, just the AV or Firewall included..... Windows Firewall and Zone Alarm both is a no no....

Can have stuff bundled but they need to do things differently as Can Have Norton Security and Malwarebytes Pro together as do things differently.

A AV program is not much use really as that is not where attacks are aimed at any more. Malware and trickery.

Click on a link or go to a bad page.

Get rid of Avast unless you paid for it, Get rid of Zone Alarm Turn on Windows Defender, Leave Windows Firewall on. Then pick one or both as they are through the browser and : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/norton-safe-web/ https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/malwarebytes/ or can keep adjusting search and come up with 5 more pages or so if not more : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=Security https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=Securit

Provided they do not break Firefox and do not conflict against each other which you determine in their logs.

Once figure those out then try a fresh install with Full Version Installer : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 61.0.2 with a Full Version Installer

Hey! I am actually having serious connection problems in this OS. Both Chrome (x64 Beta) and Firefox are really weird... I'll attach a screenshot of what Chrome says to me. It's a little thing on bottom left that just takes way longer than it should. And when it finally loads the page, sometimes there are missing images, advertisement... It's not completely loaded.


What is even more weird, tho, is that I play BF4 online with good connection. I can also download torrents really fast... It seems like a Browser problem.

Here is what is going on right now:

I am with Windows default firewall. Completely removed ZoneAlarm (didn't like it). I'll go back to Comodo soon. There is no way I'm going to run only Windows defender Firewall.

Protection wise I only have Avast installed. Restored all of its default configurations.

Uninstalled Firefox. I'll install it again now.

Hey! I uninstalled Firefox yesterday using Revo Uninstaller Pro and deleted all of its traces. Also cleaned Recent, temp, %temp%, prefetch... Ran CCleaner, Revo and DiskCleanup to clean up Windows. Rebooted. Installed the new version of Firefox. Downloaded it from the link you gave me. At first it worked perfectly! I even uninstalled Chrome. Used it for about 40 min and went to sleep. Woke up today and the error is back :( I did not install any firewall nor anything. I only have Avast running on default

That's so interesting... How did you get that information out of the certificate? Using the decoder you mentioned?

I disabled the process from starting and rebooted my PC. Firefox is working now!

The process that was messing all up is from this software: http://legendasbrasil.org/ Now when I search for a subtitle (manually start the software), the program is still working and does not mess my Firefox anymore... Living and learning.

Yes, the decoder has a row for "Issuer" which can be very helpful.

I don't know what that service is for. If you can't think of a good reason for their software to screen all of your web browsing, I definitely agree with turning that off.

I am running Comodo Firewall and Avast. Also have Malwarebytes free. But I just run it once a week.

The problem was not my connection, nor my DNS, nor my Firewall, nor my AV.

That service is not going to run on PC ever again.
