I need to re-direct incoming emails from trusted sources, some going to Trash, some going to Junk.

Q: Are you talking about a Pop or an Imap mail account?

Q: Have you created any 'Message Filters'? Check: Do you have any 'Message Filters' that delete emails?

Q: Have you set up your 'Junk controls' for the account?

  • Right click on mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'
  • select 'Junk Settings'
  • Select: 'Enable adaptive junk controls for this account'
  • Select address books to act as whitelist - if in address book then not junk.

If you or server use eg: Spamassassin, do you want those emails to auto go to junk? If you select 'Trust junk mail headers by XX' Then those emails will go to junk.

  • Select Move new junk messages to a nd choose appropriate junk folder.
  • click on 'OK'

See image below as guide.

If this is already set up, then make sure the incoming email address is in one of your whitelisted address books. If the email is being sent to junk because eg: spamassassin marked it as spam, then consider not selecting to trust junk mail headers set by XX.

Otherwise you need to train junk filters by selecting the email in 'Junk' folder and clicking on the 'Not junk' button.
