I loved Mozilla and Firefox for respecting user choice and still allowing us to remember our choice with Flash but this change has changed my view of Mozilla and Firefox. I can go on and on about Flash and I know it's a massive security risk but it let us choose.

See the plugins roadmap:

  • In September 2019, Firefox 69 will remove the "Always Activate" Flash option so we always ask for user permission before activating Flash on a website.
  • In early 2020, Flash support will be completely removed from consumer versions of Firefox. The Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) will continue to support for Flash until the end of 2020.
  • When Adobe stops shipping security updates for Flash at the end of 2020, Firefox will refuse to load the plugin.
