This is crazy - do you have some kind of app that 'manages' software installations? I would run Windows in safe mode and then try to install TB.

I have TB 68.7 on a W7 Home Premium PC. Does the computer have the latest W7 SP1 + Apr. 2016 Rollup?

Did you install the 32 or 64-bit version of TB?

Many thanks for your reply. There were some updates to apply but still have the same issue. The PC shows the sw as WIN 7 with SP1 installed and no updates that are not installed. When I try to install TB 68.7.0, it won't install & states that I need WIN 7 or higher. I get the same if I try to install Firefox, even though I do have WIN 7 installed. I am stumped!

Is your Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit? I have PCs with both, and the 64-bit TB won't install on the 32-bit Windows. The downloads for 32 and 64 bit are here: https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/

The 32-bit TB will run on 32 or 64-bit Windows, but the 64-bit TB will only run on 64-bit Windows.

My WIN 7 is 64 bit. Maybe I'll try to dl the 32 bit & install and see what happens. Thanks

You're a genius!

Installing in Safe Mode worked perfectly.
