Subject column is missing in display
When I opened my email this morning I found that the "subject" column disappeared from all my folders. I no longer can see any subject lines in any folders. How can I restore and fix this?
I used to have my folders setup to view: From, Date, Subject. But now the subject has disappeared - Help please.
Chosen solution
If you create a new folder under Local Folders, does the Subject column appear? If it does, you might be able to 'clone' the columns to other folders with 'Apply columns to' in the column selector menu.

Use the icon on the far right of the column headers - when you hover over it, it has a pop up tooltip that says 'select columns to display', when you click on it you get a drop down and then select 'Subject'. see image as guide.
Thank you very much for the response. I did see and pull down tooltip column icon. I see the same thing your image shows for the columns to display- but like yours mine does not show a "subject" to select. I have all the others; date, from, read, attachment, etc but no subject to select nor does a subject appear in the folder display. I even tried the restore column - it did not fix or do anything. Thanks for trying. - Bill

Thank you so much, it work. I created a new folder in local folders and the subject was there. I then used that to restore the other folders with the missing subject line. Thanks again. - Bill
Well I'm blowed ! Did not notice that.
Please try the following. In Thunderbird Help > Troubleshooting Information Under 'Application Basics' section, 8th down in list 'Profile Folder' - click on 'Open Folder' A new window opens showing contents of your 'profile name' folder.
Exit Thunderbird now.
Delete the following files:
- session.json
- xulstore.json
They will get created again after starting Thunderbird.
Start Thunderbird.

Tried all these but I am losing the subject as an option gradually. Today it is my inbox which lost all columns and subject was not an option!
PoplarM re :my inbox which lost all columns If all columns are missing then: Use the icon on the far right of the column headers - when you hover over it, it has a pop up tooltip that says 'select columns to display', when you click on it you get a drop down and then select 'Restore column Order'.
If issue persists then restart Thunderbird in SAfe Mode and test results. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird
