Hi everyone.

There is a simple solution to this, and it blocks the ad in addition :) Please note that it isn't a fix for the actual problem, but is a nice workaround.

Go to c:\windows\system32 (change your path and/or drive letter if necessary), right click on notepad.exe and select 'run as administrator', clicking on 'Yes' on the resulting prompt.

Then click on file - open and browse to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc, change the file type to 'All files' and open the 'hosts' file.

Underneath all the lines with # entries, put in the following entry:

127.0.0.1 ads.creative-serving.com

Then save the file.

From this point on, windows will ignore any sites which attempt to load ad content from that ad server and will fix the white screen issue.

Enjoy!

Greg

Greg Williams - Can't locate the 'hosts' file in this location. Should it be there? I've had a virus of late I performed a system restore, but this could be a sign its back?

Hi there,

If you're in Notepad and can't see the file then you probably still need to set the open dialog to look for 'all files' instead of just text files.

There is a drop down menu in the lower right of the dialog window where you can select all files.

The hosts file should definitely be there. I don't know personally of a virus that removes it.

Regards,

Greg
