How do I disable the "sync encountered an error while connecting..." bar?

Is there a way to disable it without disabling sync?

When there is an error with the Sync Servers, it pops up every few seconds, which is distracting and irritating.

Even having the option to set it to show once a session if there is a sync error is preferable to the constant popping up of the current alerting method.
