Is this the same as Windows Integrated Authentication or NTLM authentication? Are you able to access the site by entering your Windows credentials in a dialog, but you want Firefox to do that automatically? See this article for more information: Firefox asks for user name and password on internal sites.

If that's not it, please describe the issue in more detail.

No. We only use Digest. I am able to login but must continue providing credentials on any link past the secured folder.

If you add the server to this preference, does it work?

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the filter box, type or paste ntlm and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris to open a dialog for editing. If this value is blank, enter the host name. For example, if the address is http://our-intranet/dir/page.aspx then enter our-intranet (no protocol, no slashes). If this value is not blank, add a comma and then the new host name.

Click OK, switch tabs, and see whether you can navigate without re-entering your login. (This assumes that your credentials for the site are identical to the ones under which you are currently logged in...)
