Firefox fails to open and cannot open in safe mode, i keep getting crash reports. I have tried resetting firefox and reinstalling firefox, both didnt work. I have updated windows and ran the malware check that firefox advises. This has happened since firefox automatically updated to v18. Crash ID: bp-17392046-c094-4c17-a820-b3b8b2130113

Thanks

That is malware. Have you run a full and up to date scan with malwarebytes?

try to search your computer for yapyqxij.dll and delete it.

Hi, i ran the malwarebytes quick and full scan, on both it found 4 and then deleted them.

i search for yapyqxij.dll and it didnt bring up any results

So now if you restart your PC and then try to open Firefox, does it work?

it still brings up the same crash report.. no difference

other users reported that the malware may be detected and removed by microsoft safety scanner and kaspersky security scan, so you could also try those programs:

http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx

http://www.kaspersky.com/security-scan

Hi, just ran both of those, the microsoft found 1, while the kaspersky didnt, ive restarted pc and still firefox fails to work.

other users have reported that the file is residing in %localappdata%\DT Soft\ (normally that's "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local"). you could attempt to boot into windows safemode (by pressing F8 while your computer is starting up) and delete the .dll file manually.

also press windows-key + r and open "regedit". in the registry editor then search and delete all entries of yapyqxij.dll.

however i'm no malware removal expert, so I'm not sure if these steps will get rid of every trace this malware is leaving on your system

You sir appear to have cracked it!!

I opened safe mode and deleted yapyqxij.dll however when i turned my pc back on it came up and said, yapyqxij.dll cannot start due to being deleted... will i get this all the time?

more options

then it looks like it is still set somewhere to run at each startup - you could run a tool like HiJackThis and remove/fix any entries that contain yapyqxij.dll...
