Hello oldsalt,

do you use Windows / Mac or Linux? Try to delete your history by clicking firefox > history > show all right click on the folder icon and delete. If this doesn´t workt try to delete it with some extern tools like CCleaner or TuneUp utilities.

Do not hesitate to contact us further.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. The Firefox cache temporarily stores images, scripts, and other parts of websites while you are browsing.
Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies, do the following:

  1. Tap the menu icon located at the top right corner. This is the icon with 3 bars. On older Android devices you'll have to press the hardware menu key and then tap More.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. After that, you will be taken to the settings screen. In the settings screen, look under the section Privacy & Security and select Clear private data.
  4. You will then be taken to a list of what can be cleared. Select the following 2 for deletion:
    • Cookies & active logins
    • Cache
  5. After those have been selected, tap the Clear data button to actually clear the cache and cookies.

Cleared the cache, and I went back to clear only browsing and download history, but did not clear it. Will the "top sites" clear with history, if I can ever get it cleared?

Hello oldsalt,

the "top sites" does not get deleted if you delete your history. Please read this article for instructions.

to delete your history go to options > privacy > delete private informations. There you can tick what you want to delete.

If you got still this problem and nothing works, please contact us further.

Still not deleting history. Turned off auto-synch, thinking that had something to do with, without success. I guess I will have to give up on Firefox until they quit messing with it to "make improvements". Too many things need fixing so users have more control like the desktop version

Hi oldsalt:

Just realized we had duplicate content and that some of it is out of date.

Clearing cookies, private data, history, and settings in Firefox for Android has the most up to date information on how to clear history as of Firefox 26:

QUOTE

  1. To clear private data, cookies, history and settings in Firefox for Android, tap the Menu button (on some devices this is along the bottom edge of the device, on others it is a software menu on the top right) , then tap Settings (on some devices you may have to tap More first).
  2. Tap Privacy and then tap Clear private data.
  3. Choose the data you want to keep or clear by enabling the check boxes.
  4. Tap Clear data.

END QUOTE

I hope that helps you and others.

Cheers!

No, this is not working. I can delete history individually, but it does not delete through settings-clear private data. I am using a Google Nexus 7 tablet with Kit Kat 4.1.2 and Firefox for Android

The items left behind may be bookmarks. If you tap into the address bar and type a space do all the items have stars next to them?

Some of the entries are my bookmarks and some are not, but none of them are deleted. I uninstalled FF, reinstalled it and tried to delete history and it still would not delete. I also tried syncing and not syncing with my desktop with no results. The only way for me to clear my history is to clear the data in the android settings under apps, but that also deletes my bookmarks. So, in order to prevent my tablet getting overloaded with history I am going to have to abandon Firefox until they can fix the history problem. I am very disappointed with the newer FF editions.

I am having the same problem on a Samsung Note 3, with Android 4.3 and Firefox 26.0.1. I have done all of the suggestions as noted above and still have the problem. I found that other users have had similar problem last summer with Firefox 22. Obviously this is still a problem.
