None of my pages are loading, giving me the "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.whatever.com" - yet (obviously) I can get other browsers to work.

So now what? why the hell is the new browser broken? It was working last night just fine, before I shut down the computer.

hello, normally such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions: Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox

You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy" if the default "Use the system proxy settings" setting doesn't work.
