In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:
- all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
- default theme is used (no persona)
- userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
- default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
- Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
- hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
- plugins are not affected
- preferences are not affected
TEST''''is issue still there ?
I tested in new clean profile "default settings" with no addons installed but the issue still there.
It's the same bug reported here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=892485
--- Firefox 60.0.1 (64 bits) Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS / xenial
When you click a history link to open the link then a new history item gets created at the top of the history list. Firefox only shows the most recent visit and thus you jump to the top of the list. A possible workaround to prevent creating a new history item is to open a New Private Window and check the history via the sidebar in this window.
Jumping to the top of the list is very annoying and makes you waste a lot of time.
Thanks for the tip.
This has been a long-standing issue for me too. I understand what's happening when it occurs. But I don't understand why it's necessary for the form to behave in this manner.
I've never grappled with XUL so I plead ignorance with regards to the way that it maps to native controls, or custom paints its own; but having dealt with listboxes, and scrollboxes and all kinds of other similar widgets in Win32 desktop development in the past, it would seem that this behaviour is by design, and it's quite irritating.
It would be much more friendly to the end user for the new field to be added to the top of the control, but not to scroll it into view.
Hi ByProxy, you can change the sort order of the Library window by clicking a different column heading. Then when the Most Recent Visit date changes, the order of the list won't change.
I think the problem with this dialog is there is no way to Open a history item without selecting it, and the scroll position of the list follows the selected item when it moves to the top. It would be nice if there were a way to right-click > Open without selecting. But...
