As part of migrating between two Macs I'm exporting my Firefox bookmarks as both JSON and HTML files but every time I try to either import or restore those files into Firefox the browser stalls and crashes. (am running OS 10.9.5 on old Mac, OS 0.10.5 on new Mac, Firefox 61.0.1 on both machines) . Below I've included an excerpt from the first chunk of the Apple crash report that is generated when I try to import as json. – Thanks in advance for any advice on how to address this.

HI. please send The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Send the report including the bp- part as per the picture.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

What is the file size of the HTML and JSON file and do you know how many items are in the file?

@Pkshadow Thank you but I entered about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and got a window with the text: No crash reports have been submitted. When I have been trying to import bookmarks and browser freezes I am manually forcing it to quit - perhaps that results in no crash report?

@ cor-el Thanks for asking. The file size for JSON is 4.2 MB and file size for HTML is 11.1 MB not sure how many items - it's probably a lot, about a decades worth of accumulated bookmarks.

@ cor-el - thank you for pointing me in the right direction the issue was file size. When I saw the spinning "beach ball" what I thought was the browser freezing from a crash was actually just processing while importing the bookmarks. The processing icon was spinning for so long I assumed browser was freezing and kept forcing it to quit. When I finally let it just import without forcing quit all bookmarks eventually imported but it took about 45 minutes. Turns out the solution was patience.
