How do I turn OFF the website translation?
I recently switched from Chrome to Firefox, and I noticed a lot of websites are displayed in a very poor translation into my language. I had it off in Chrome. I don't have any addon which would do it. In the settings, the preferred language to display websites is US English. Still, I'd say 20% of content is "translated" into my language.

Unlike Google Chrome, Firefox doesn't come with any builtin translation services. If your pages are being translated automatically, you likely have any add-on installed on Firefox that is doing this for you. In that case, it's just a matter of disabling or removing the add-on.
Hope this helps.
Note that some websites may check for location via an IP lookup and automatically serve you a web page in your local language when available. For instance google does this. There is usually not much you can do in this case apart from looking for a button/link to switch to English or to the international version of the website. You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
- press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).
"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data -> Manage Data
"Clear the Cache":
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
